Riccardo Pes - The Song of the Birds
This composition is for cello and loop station and starts from the original melody of "El Cant des Ocels", typical catalan medieval song. Starting from the two parts, that compose the whole melody, the music takes a polyphonic direction. The four lines are played one after another and recorded by the loop station that keeps playing the parts already played by the cello. "We've all seen Ed Sheeran use one - but how do loop pedals work with classical music? This Sunday Riccardo Pes - Cellist will be showing us how it's done - layering multiple musical phrases to create his sound world."

Riccardo Pes - AHA!
The aim of this composition was not using notes. Different and experimental sounds were found by combining different techniques. The result is an experimental piece that brings the listener into a personal sound world. This piece was composed during Riccardo's artist-in-residence performance at the AHA!Festival at the University of Chalmers, Gothenburg, Sweden. "Riccardo Pes seems saying with his music: "Stop..., listen. And listen to yourself..." absorbed Cellina's waters and put them into music: "Stop..., listen. And listen to yourself..." It is worth to do it. You will feel happier and truer."

Riccardo Pes - Attimo Fragile
"Attimo Fragile" is part of an original soundtrack. This is an excerpt where different cellos gather and play a fairy tune treated with a counterpoint technique. The tunes was originally scottish and it was customized to have a functional melody in order to build the fugato. "The main characteristic of his language is the eclecticism: the cello is explored in all of its expressive power".
