RICCARDO PES - CELLIST
QUBIT, Physics and Music
<< The QUBIT, quantum bit, is any bit made out of future quantum computers. The title, QUBIT, evokes science, physics and new technologies. It seemed to me a good synthesis of the contents of the album where I also used recent technologies for its realization, such as the loop-station and electronic instruments >> Riccardo Pes

"Riccardo surprises every time! And he does it by writing or playing, or writing and playing. Tireless researcher guided by "feeling" the energy around him, perhaps even guiding it, perhaps - indeed certainly - he himself generates it. In Riccardo's work - Suite? Album? Short story? Travel? I would say a bit of everything together - I find the true meaning of making music, the one that lives within artists who write jazz, rock and other music. Staying away from codes, labels or roles is something that means a lot to me, in a heartfelt way, and it is something we are dangerously and lazily loosing. Riccardo's music is lunar, very personal, I had already noticed this in the past, and he is all in it, with his sincere passion. I could say more, analyze all the tracks one by one but I won't do it, I don't want to remove or even just dampen what must be a surprise. So listen to him! "

"The new album by Riccardo Pes amazed me from start to the end. As soon as you start listening to it, you feel as if you are entering into a creative laboratory where the profound connection between Art and Science is made accessible to the public. In this new work, Riccardo does not only write and play but he also explores a new language of music that accompanies us into the mysteries of the universe.
QUBIT begins with elementary particles and finishes with the dream of space travelling. The tracks are composed with a strong classical music structure combined with experimental/electronical contemporary music. His way of researching is very similar to a scientist: the foundations of scientific discoveries are based on what is known and made possible thanks to the great intuitions of brilliant men. Listening to Riccardo's music is an emotional experience. This album combines the depth of his soul with his thorough research of how to decode the keys to access scientific knowledge. "
