Today featured on the cultural page of the Messaggero Veneto with an interview by Paola Dalle Molle!! Exactly one year ago, we organised the firs ever live online festival AndràTuttoBene festival - Online Music Festival (https://www.riccardopes.com/andratuttobenefestival.html)
We began our live shows in a climate of consternation and isolation, Italy was the first to enter into a national lockdown and it soon became an example for everyone in terms of solidarity, commitment and resilience. A year ago we gave hope to the world with our festival << I remember the first concert live-streamed, the emotion and the tension were so high. In that moment, the music gathered the people and made us feeling closer to each other. It was March 2020, we were experiencing the first lockdown. It was so hard for everybody, I will never forget it.>> The italian cellist, Riccardo Pes, recollects his memories of that moment when he launched the first online festival ever: #AndràTuttoBene Festival (translation: #AllSoonWillBeWell). The festival was realized also with the contribution of the musicologist Roberto Calabretto, who introduced every concert, the journalist Paola Dalle Molle and the concert pianist Yuki Negishi. More than 40 concerts had been broadcasted live, with more than 70 musicians. <<We had - Pes says – musicians from all over the world. The absence of music, culture, pushed me hard to find a solution to break that silence. I had lots of questions in my head and the main was: how could I keep my connection with the public? That’s how I came up with the ide of the festival which had to be online>> Everyday, at 6 pm, musicians from every part of the world played for almost 20 minutes, live, from the facebook page of the festival. The performances were introduced by the musicologist Roberto Calabretto. The pianist Yuki Negishi, who helped also as technical advisor, was the first performer in the calendar. << I remeber the work behind the scene, the constant confrontation with the team, the solidarity among musicians and enthusisam of a supportive public. It was a gift of normality in the amidst of the pandemic. The initiative was so successfull that people expected a second edition.>> What is the situation today? << today we are facing a new lockdown, the third, and nothing has really changed except for the amount of wonderful initiatives online. As musician, I will take part to quite a few online festivals which I think they have made a step further, compare to our experience, because they have introduced an online ticketing which makes everything sustainable for both artists and organisations. The audience is also more sensitive on buying tickets for online performances nowadays. This could be also a new tool for promoting the concerts in the future and I hope it will endure when the pandemic will be over. Said that, I believe that #AndràTuttoBene Festival maintains a unique feature because it was live and not prerecorded. I remember the artists talking simultaineuosly with the people and it was incredible how inclusive and intimate that connection was. >> Photo credit @benedetta.folena #andratuttobene #isolamento #COVID19 #COVID19outbreak #Pandemia #pandemic #coronavirusitalianews #festivalonline #streaming #livemusic #StreamingLive #concert #resilienza #arte #musica #musician #music #musicislife
